Dettmann | Klock – Phantom Studies EP (Ostgut Ton) 8/10

To celebrate its 100th release Bergain’s very own Ostgut Ton imprint prepared an EP by club residents Marcel Dettmann and Ben Klock. The “Phantom Studies” EP lasts around 40 minutes and could serve as an album.

These two producers first collaborated 11 years ago on “Dawning” (2006) and “Scenario” (2007), and today present a new school of techno from Berlin where groove and melody work well together.

On this double 12” techno-heads could find perfect tracks for different parts of the night – from trippy title production “Phantom Studies”, to rolling “No One Around” and “The Tenant”, to electro influenced “The Room” and a ravey “Bad Boy”, to melodic “Prophet Man” featuring Klock’s spoken vox, to an arpeggiated and the prettiest on this release “The World Tonight”.
