Josh Butler – What Is Real? / Innocence (Strictly Rhythm) 8/10

Strictly Rhythm is the label every house music lover should be familiar with. The label is back on track with first release after a summer break. It’s a two-tracker from the UK’s Josh Butler, who with the releases at MTA, Noir, Cajual and MadTech is being called one of the most exciting house music producers of today.

Both tracks are produced with a nod to classic house with fresh flavors cut for today’s dancefloors. “What Is Real?” sounds like Kerri Chandler could produce it – deep, groovy, with touching male sung phrases and moving stabs. “Innocence” is even deeper cut with female’s “Set me free” refrain. It would be perfect if this EP featured no-saxophone version of this track.
